the best bg!

This awesome bg is bg05! That means I'm about to start with bg06! :) Sorry I don't really share spectaculair things with you, but I don't want to post too much spoilers on my blog. Besides the bg's I'm working on the rough version of the animation, which feels a bit awkward because I never did this before haha. But it goes well and I'll post a preview very soon!

Redesigned bg

After working on bg #1 a couple of weeks (way to long!), I still had the feeling something was wrong with it.... So I send an email to Anne Bush, who paints HB-style bg's herself.

She gave me such great advise, tips and feedback! I started to aply some of the feedback, but the more I changed the bg, the more I realised I'd better redraw it haha.

Call me nuts, call me insane, but I did it! And... I'm SO HAPPY! It's not finished yet, but it's not going to take me weeks again ;) just a couple of hours and I'm finished with bg #1, hooray!

Background idea

I had this style and color idea for the first scene of my cartoon... what do you think? There are gonna be a lot more trees and other stuff, so don't worry about that ;) just the style :)

With the information of the previous post, I started to make a copy of a background of Yogi Bear. It's not completed yet, but I really wanted to show you :). I don't have any fancy brush set yet, so if you have an awesome brush (set) for me, please let me know.

The lines on the bush drove me nuts, so i traced those. The flowers and ink lines are not traced. Time for an other background :)

Back on track

I'm ill for already 3 weeks, but it gets better every day, so don't be worried!
The doctor told me I have to rest, so that's what I do...
Because I was tired, dizzy and had a headache most of the time, I wasn't in the mood for drawing or even think about my graduation project.
But I feel good enough to start drawing again now, so I think I'm back on track :)

Secretly I've been watching a lot Bugs Bunny and Yogi Bear cartoons too (don't tell the doctor ;))
While I was watching I analyzed the characters and drew some background elements (like trees).
I really loved the backgrounds used in Yogi Bear cartoons.
So I was very happy with this post of John K about these backgrounds :)
And with the post of Anne Bush about how to paint such backgrounds in Photoshop!
